Catch and Release Permits ( CPB1) and TOPS Permit ( Annexure 1)

If there is any chance that you may have to remove an African Rock
Python, you will have to apply / be in possession of a TOPS permit
(Annexure 1).  If there is no possibility that you will be requested
to remove an African Rock Python, you only need to fill in a CPB 1.

For the TOPS permit, the permit fee is R100 and not as indicated on
the permit application, and the CPB 1 permit fee is R50 – both permits
are valid for one year.

Remember that in order to apply for a CPB 1 / TOPS permit, you need to
be a paid member, have attended at least three meetings and be in
possession of a valid snake handling course certificate.
